I think I've finally got it:
Begin in the column that represents the original Key, locate the note in that column and move horizontally along the row to the column of the desired Key. Once you have that note name, locate that note in the “C” column which represents the tuning of the C Chromatic harmonica...baby steps :)
Thanks!!

Ah ha!
My heart is smiling Grasshopper! ;)
It’s all just ‘Do Re Mi.............
Do    Re     Mi     Fa    So   La     Ti     then back to   Do
 ‘C’ Scale     C      D       E      F     G      A       B    then back to    C
 ‘G’ Scale     G      A        B      C     D     E       F#  then back to    G
 ‘D’  Scale     D      E       F#     G     A     B      C#  then back to     D
etc, etc, etc
Whatever key you play ‘Do Re Mi.............

It's  about notes and where they live, as my Smokey would say.
If the tab says 3 blow, it means the note of  ‘G’.
If you buy yourself a ‘G’ scale Chromatic, it just means the ‘do re mi ……’ is made up with different notes.
It follows therefore that if you have a song in the key of ‘C’: As long as you play those ‘C’ scale notes, on
ANY key of Chromatic, you will be playing in ‘C’.

Take our “Misty” tab. If it is tabbed  in the key of ‘C’, ‘Look  at  me’  would be ‘G’ 7 blow: ‘E’  6 blow
 & ‘B’  4 draw.
So if you want to play the song in the key of ‘C’, on your ‘G’ Chromatic you would play  9 blow
 -7 draw  6 blow.
It’s all about the notes, not the holes.
Sometimes a song will not sit well on a 12 holer.
That is why the 14 & 16 holers are so popular.

Just one thing to add:-

If your original tab has extra sharps or flats (over and above the sharps and flats in the music key),
the new note in the new key has to be sharpened or flattened also.

Henri, Age,

Might it be easier or more accesible if the charts (incl the major, minor, etc.,...) were cathegorized under one or more 'stickies'?

Good idea Tim.
The typing is losing its appeal! ;D

USING THE ’TRANSPOSITION CHART’

TILL THERE WAS YOU  - From ‘D’ To ‘G’

The first note on the first line is -2* (F#) in ‘D’
Look on the chart & find ‘F#’ in the ‘D’ column of the Transposition Chart.
Then move horizontally left to the ‘G’ column, which is next door.
You will see ‘B’.
‘B’ is -4 on your ‘C’ Chromatic. The first note is now transposed.

Next note is 3 (G).
Find ‘G’ in the ‘D’ column.
Move left to the ‘G’ column and you will see ‘C’.
‘C’ is 4 blow or 5 blow or -4* on your ‘C’ Chromatic.

Next note is -3 (A).
Find ‘A’ in the ‘D’ column.
Move left to the ‘G’ column and you will see a ‘D’.
‘D’ is -5 on your ‘C’ Chromatic.

If you have a note with an 'extra' sharp (*) added, you add a sharp to the new transposed note.
Extra meaning excluding sharpened notes already in the key.
If a sharp is removed, you remove it from the transposed note.
Likewise any flat notes.

Looking down each column you can see the relevant sharps and flats that are in each key.
You will see there are no sharps or flats in the key of ‘C’ Column.

I am trying to transpose Till There Was You from D to G

Any help would be of great use.
