Yeah, my old man was the bomb! He jammed twice as much excitement into his 69 years than I have into almost eighty. Now that I'm thinking about it, I could probably write a book just from the stuff that ~I~ personally remember about the old guy. In fact, I was just sharing some of his escapades with my oldest son a few minutes ago. He's been gone for 45 years and I still miss him.
Hardly a day goes by that I don't remember or share something about him with someone.

We all only get one real father, and most of us will say without a doubt "He was the greatest," and you know you're right. :) All the memories good, bad and up the middle; they're all yours. Keep the old guy alive in your hearts and share those memories with your Grandkids. Those memories are family treasures that only last as long as we share them.

Here we tackle Robbie Robertson's "The Weight" as a harmonica instrumental, live in our project studio with live looping and pre-programmed drums. I fell in love with The Band as soon as their "Music From Big Pink" album hit the stores back in 1968  -- went to see them live several times back then and their music has stuck with me through the years. This particular tune has been covered by many, so there are some great versions out there. My favorite (of those I've heard) is still the version from The Band's "Last Waltz" album, performed with The Staples Singers (If Mavis Staples' vocal on that cut doesn't send chills down your spine, you may not be human :-)). So, this ain't that, just our humble take on it.

Happy Dad’s Day.
I relocated to Norman Oklahoma on December 23rd of 2020, living in a house my dad rebuilt, enjoying watering everything in an attempt to get a jump on summer (which the weatherman claims has already arrived).
So his presence has survived his passing.
Here’s to the memories of your fathers (unless they’re still alive lol).
