I had forgotten about this thread until it popped back up.
I enjoyed rereading the whole thing. At one point I said the MK
would be the Only Hohner I would consider. That sounded a
little snobbish. ::)  However, now that I have one I kinda understand
why I said that. ;D  It's an amazingly nice harmonica. I don't have
any problems with the Square(ish) mouth piece compared to the
round ones I'm used to and I really like that Short Slide.
I'm not playing it a lot but I sure DO like it. ;D
Money well spent.

Like I always said, the absolute best mouthpiece design goin. Just flat-out comfortableThe nicest The Amadeus and (I believe) the newest higher-end Hohner 16 holer may have the same mouthpiece design.

Yeah, it took a little to adjust too, but I really like the mouthpiece too. My 3 main chromatics are an SCX64, an old style Super 64, and now the Meisterklasse. The Super 64 is my least favorite for tongue blocking - the edges of the holes aren't too smooth, but it's OK. The SCX is great, and the Meisterklasse is just as comfortable if not better, but feels much different. It seems like it's own thing.

The only thing about it I don't like is those 2 missing holes that I get in a 64. I can still play the same songs, but have to change it up so I don't try to blow into holes that aren't there, which I did several times when I first got it.

Rather than "missing holes on a 64" just think: "added holes on a 48" and you should be fine. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Until you go to play something like ' Sranger on the shore ' in Bb , have to transpose up an octave and ruin the thing.

Maybe not the proper thread to bring this up A. J. , but while it is on my mind . I have a nagging worry that music is being listened to by many on gear/gadgets that are not adequate for lower frequencies, even decent ear-buds are poor on the lower notes compared to good head-phones or speakers IMO , the worry is that this lack of quality/standard plus compressed sound files , does nothing to educate or inform listeners of the resonance /depth/ majesty/feeling/atmosphere/richness of music played lower down where there is no screaming for attention , i fear the lack of grace.

The ACE 48 MP looks very similar to the MK, at least judging by pictures. I love the ACE MP; don’t have a MK (yet - but you’re making my HAS kick in again Age).

Yeah I've never played an Ace but from pictures I've seen, it uses a very "MK lookin' mouthpiece."

I posted some sound files a while demonstrating why I didn't like the two bottom holes. (I'm sure its mostly cuz I can't make them sound good ;D )

The Meisterklasse and Ace mouthpieces do look similar but are different.  A lip purse player probably would not notice the difference.  I cannot when playing.  The Meisterklasse holes are tapered in at the bottom to close up the opening.  This seems to be because it is straight tuned.  The Ace holes are not tapered and this would be because it is cross tuned.

Than it probably isn't going to be as "luxurious" as the MK. :P

It's really hard to come up with a suitable adjective. While I think "Luxurious" still cuts it a little shy, "Orgasmic" was just bit of a stretch, so I had to back it down to "Luxurious."  ;D

How about "harmonious" if you will pardon the pun.

Ah interesting thanks Gary!

I do love the feel of my ACE MP - sounds like I need to get a MK to compare it with now!  :D

I have always admired this particular harmonica, but never bought one. Pricey. I have listened to quiet a few recordings of them and they sound wonderful in the hands (lips) of a good player. since I picked up my Orchestra tuned Saxony, it has become my favorite. The SS reeds make a big difference to me. I still might buy a MK, but if Seydel came out wit a true 14 hole Saxony, that would end my agony!

I actually had it in my cart the last time around when it hit the low of $293 I think it was, but I backed out. It’d be awfully hard to pay a lot more for it now, but if it starts dropping again I’ll be keeping an eye on it. Thanks for the heads up. I thought the aluminum comb might be too bright for me since I didn’t like the Saxony.

Well I made the jump today from a simple fan of the Meisterklasse Chromatic to an owner of said instrument!
Found a great deal on eBay, made them an offer and accepted their counter-offer.
To my delight the instrument was even nicer than pictured or described.  It appears to have been played very, very little, not a blemish on it.

Unfortunately it did not come with the uber-cool leather case, and it's plastic case has a broken hinge....but you don't play the case!
It has one curled up windsaver, just to the right of the "r" in Hohner in the pic below, maybe that will settle down.  If not, I'll be quizzing the folks here on how to change a windsaver. :o

Does anyone know where to source another case?  Plastic or leather.  I looked on the Hohner parts site but did not see one.

I knew that folks on this forum would know the answers!

Thanks Lone Harper, I didn't realize that the International Hohner eShop would have so much more merchandise than the USA/Canada site including that case.

Gary, if you ever get a chance, could you post a picture of that leather chromatic case you mentioned?

What's with PhotoBucket?  Putting watermarks on MY PHOTOS!!   I guess it's time to find another photo hosting site.
