Hi Gabe

The forum looks great, first of all!

Not a bug, but a minor remark about the size of the icon for "Topic you have posted in" vs "Normal topic": I need a magnifying-glass to see the differences.

I love the feature "new post" next to unread messages.

So SlideMeister will end up as a separate section here if I understand correct? Cool  8)

Thanks for compliments, these slick new forums are so cool that when you set them up, it takes so much time because there are just so many features to choose from.

I agree. There are fonts that are too small. I am currently working on them. Enlarging them is not quite a simple adjustment for some reason. Have you explored the THEMES section of your PROFILE yet? Choosing between different themes will give you radical changes to your interface. The only problem with selecting different themes is that when you select anything other than the DEFAULT theme, you lose the top GALLERY button! :o Working on fixing that one too...

Keep working it Ludo, keep asking questions  ;D

but changing theme doesn't change fonts, right?

btw the fonts are big enough for me; it's the icon's size I was referring to.

Themes can change darn near everything. Fonts, colors, locations of information, buttons, etc. Right now though there are only a few themes available as some that were installed earlier had some issues so I have only installed ones that I've tested.

Gabe, is the 1600 words going to be the limit? It might be hard to explain some modifications with that limit.

hello Gabe  and All

now that are subjects that have more than one page, i think it'll be easy (for us readers) to see first, in the top of the page the last message, it's that possible?
thanks,

good health

You can adjust the order of the messages in a list, most recent first or last, by your PROFILE then under LOOK & LAYOUT.

When you're through using the forum, are you logging out? Or are you just closing the browser? If you logout, you will bypass the "always login" function. Also, if you clear the temp files in your browser regularly you will remove the MeisterForum cookie that remembers these settings - until you login again.

login problem - cookies ok
« Reply #13 on: January 26, 2007, 12:49:00 PM »
Hi Gabe

My cookies for the forum are set on "allowed", yet sometimes I get an error and can't log in (using Firefox, and the username and password are filled in already).
I usually enter the forum via the link that's sent in a post saying a new reply was posted.

This time it's 3 days in a row that I didn't have access that way, so I went to my original Welcome to the forum-mail, and clicked the link there - that's how I got "in" this time.
Any idea if the problem is here or at your side?  ???

thanks
Ludo

Ludo, that's an interesting problem. Can you post the error code? That helps out majorly in determining the problem.

Can you get in through the front login interface at http://SlideMeister.com ?
Can you get in through http://SlideMeister.com/forum/ ?

Just as a idea, you might want to try purging (clear or delete) the temporary cookies from your browser then try logging in again. Then see if you get the error when responding to posts via email.

Can you post the error code?
An Error Has Occurred!
You were unable to login. Please check your cookie settings.

That's all - I don't see any code.
I'll try your other suggestions tomorrow and report.
Thanks

Can you get in through the front login interface at http://SlideMeister.com ?
Can you get in through http://SlideMeister.com/forum/ ?

The front login interface has my username and password saved, but gives the same error.

The 2nd option brings me straight into the forum's main page.

I noticed an eye with a red negative sign under it in my taskbar while on SlideMeister. I clicked on it and a box opened and said I was blocking cookies from the SlideMeister site.

What kind of cookies does SlideMeister try to put in my computer ?

A standard cookie is placed in computer's temporary internet file location that looks something like, cookie:yourname@SlideMeister.com. It contains you login info. If you block it, you will likely not be able to automaticallly log in.

I don't have any problem with the automatic log in but I'll change the settings to allow cookies from the site. I'll let you know if I notice any difference.

I just changed it.

This is a great feature that should be used. I use it all the time, see http://SlideMeister.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=99999999&topic=82.0

just a few threads away from where you are now.

Hello everybody, new guy here. A confused new guy..............

I understand this forum is by and for chromatic players but everything I read on the clubs home page says you guys are trying to get diatonic players play chroms, and even some chrom players playing diatonics. Or in other words blend the two worlds together. Then I come here to the forum looking for some information on chromatics and the first thing I see is threads stating "Chromatics Only" and another "Diatonics Only" or others stating one can only talk about (or sell) chroms on this thread or that one.

Are we trying to blend the two together or keep them apart?

Hi New guy!

The answer is:
Definitely keep them apart. FTR, We are, first and formost, a Chromatic website and forum. Acknowledging that many Chromatic players also play diatonics, we offer a place for that particular venue as well, albeit "separate," and never to be included with, the Chromatic priority of this site and forum. And, for that matter, I don't anticipate the diatonic portion doing much more than answering the occasional diatonic query. FTR, if it ever even threatened to get big (which it won't  :) I'd discontinue the diatonic forum. It's not that I'm all that cranky, There are a hundred diatonic groups out there and frankly, I'm just not all that interested in them  :)

Not quite sure what you mean. On loading what? The forum? When you open up the forum or RSS it goes to paypal? Paypal & the forum are two different sites. I need more info so I can help you.

good point.....When opening a topic from my RSS reader, after all the sources have been opened, as I'm opening the first individual entry from SlideMeister, there is an attempt to access paypal thru one of my ports...

Mind you, it's not TAKING the viewer  to paypal, it's just asking permission to access something at paypal...perhaps an affiliate link of some sort...I'm clueless a bit ....

NOt a big deal, I'm just curious.....

as for the website, I'll check that now..

Ok, I go to SlideMeister.com, and , when I select "SlideMeister forums" it again attempts to contact paypal...

This is just idle curiosity for me, I'm in the web business and I SHOULD be able to figure out why this is working this way.....don't spend too much time on it, if any...

thanks
