8 year old pianist
« on: August 05, 2020, 10:03:16 PM »
I put this posting here because it might not interest most people in this website.
Jeepers, this girl knows something about interpretation already at her age. I didn't know anything about interpretation until I was much, much, much older.
I stumbled across this video. I had no idea from the beginning of the video that she  would play so well.
I will happily watch an elementary age music recital. You can watch the stage presence just as well as you can listen to the music.
Ye Gads! How did the other children and their parents feel after she played?

Thanks for posting that, Ed.  Some people play piano (and other instuments) correctly, but a bit mechanically.  And, then ... there are those like this young lady who so obviously FEEL the music in their soul!  Her mechanicis (hand position, etc.) are marvelous, but oh, the way she interprets the pieces!  She has the gift of letting her audience know exactly how she feels the music.  It's a real joy to watch and listen to such passion.

At first I thought this music, Dances of the Dolls, might be in one of the Marx Brothers movies in which Chicko plays piano. I searched for and looked at the movie spots in which Chicko plays piano, but Chicko did not play Dances of the Dolls. Today I found the date  when Shostakovich  wrote Dances of the Dolls was 1953.  Chicko played some other music.
