SlideMeister has SO MANY fans of the inimitable Toots Thielemans here - and he has been discussed many, many times
as well as so much of his music. I'm afraid I haven't heard, or heard of this particular piece - and the link Keith posts
does play fine for me.
Here's another I'm unsure if you know about: 'Emmanuel' by Toots and the composer, Michel Colombier, from
Colombier's album 'Dreams' (piano by Fred Hersch). It is a stunningly beautiful piece of music, written by Colombier
upon the death of his small son. Later, Colombier's wife had it playing during the online tribute upon Michel's death as
well. Still later on, Chris Botti began playing this piece with various violinists - and it has become somewhat of his own
'signature' piece. I'm still unsure which I prefer: Toots' version, or Botti's (I'll post a link to my own favourite version of
that one).
PS: Just found another which is equally beautiful by Danielle Licari - simply using her voice as an instrument.
I was first turned onto it by Winslow - who is probably THE most learned scholar of Toots' music we have here on SlideMeister. and managed to track down the physical CD's through the help of Laina Freeman - an English SlideMeister and
friend. There is an online link somewhere--I'll try to find it again.
