Mouthpiece of the new Hohner Performance Super64X
« on: April 30, 2022, 10:22:03 AM »
I bought a Hohner Performance Super64X from you last fall. Quite good!
What is the mouthpiece made of? I prefer the silver plated surface of the preious generation of Super64 and Super64X.
I  live in Houston, Tx. How can the mouthpiece be silver plated? Is that possible? Should I be able to find ompanies that deal in jewelry, antiques or something else who can silver plate the mouthpiece?

George,
The Performance Super 64 has a stainless steel mouthpiece. Doyou know if it isslipprier than the black coated Super      64X mouthpiece?

What would be the cost of buying the stainless steel version of a Performance Super 64 mouthpiece

I will get you a quote on the Stainless Steel mouthpiece on the Super 64 for your 64X. I need a day or so due to current schedule.

George,
Do you think the stainless steel mouthpiece is slipprier than the black coated mouthpiece?

Having played on both, I believe it is a personal preference.
Before I special order the part for you, can you try somebody's Super 64 Performance to see what you think of that mouthpiece?

I guess I'll take your comment to mean the stainless steel and the black mouthpiece have extremely similar qualities.
I don't know where to find a Hohner Perormance harmonica with the stainless steel surface mouthpiece. High end harmonicas are as scarce as goat wings and hen teeth.

I am in the huge metropolis of Houston, Texas. A local Guitar Center store is big, but I think the only chromatic harmonias they had were a 270 and a 280.  I have no idea of how the public in the u.S. can see any other chromatic harmonicas.
Guitar Center had no Seydel, Suzuki, Easttop or other chromatic harmonicas

Hi Ed
This is what Hohner say about the mouthpiece
Mouthpiece (surface):    stainless steel polished with high-end coating.
I'd suspect this is a form of black chrome that was very popular on 80's motorcycle exhausts but that's an assumption having looked at my mouthpiece and having had a Suzuki motorcycle dealership in the early 80's
Here's a link to Hohner Germany and their spare parts page for the Super 64X mouthpiece which is listed at Euro 67.14 about US $70 not including post

I don't much care about the color. Slickness  is my concern.

Plainness is also an initerest. I have one of the previous generation of Super 64X, I made some trades and have the standard silver mouthpiece, rather than the gold plated mouthpiece. I have the plain stainless steel cover plates rather than the black ones.

I do not buy clothing  with the manufacaturer's name priinted on the outside, as if I were the member of an exclusive club.

I am going to obliterate the big "HOHNER" on the back of the comb of my Performance 64X. I will obiliterate the "HOHONER" on the bottom coverplate of my black Super 64X

If the clothing manufacturers and Hohner do not like that, they should pay me for advertising for them
