Mini heating pad
« on: August 02, 2022, 08:35:58 PM »
Recently purchased this and am happy with it. It is only 9 inches by 9 inches. On low it gets up around 110 degrees. I might try putting something under the harmonicas to raise them off the pad a bit, but it doesn't seem to cause any problems to put them directly on it. It sits on a little wooden stand next to my desk. Takes up very little space.

That looks like a great solution, my first one was quite big, then I discovered Reptile Heating Pads, (mine is about 9" x 6", & works quite well).

Thanks, got my wife to order it.
I am always recommending the use of a heating pad, this was quite affordable (she’s got Prime).

Thanks Beads.  I got a very similar one from Amazon a few years ago.  It's roughly 6" x 14".  I put a couple of harps in it, and fold it over so they're warmed from the top and bottom.  If I set the heat on "medium", I can leave them there without worry of windsaver damage.  When I'm done playing one, I put it back to "dry" it completely before putting it in a box.  Works great!

What is actually needed is a way to keep the harp warm while we are playing.
But I will give this one a shot.

Warm breath is going into the harp and warm hands are holding it. It seems like I can play a good while without problems. In a marathon playing session it might help to have a couple harps on the pad and swap every 20 or 30 minutes. Or sit the harp back on the pad while changing music in a stand.

Mostly, it's the problem of condensation, if the chrom is at or near body temp, it's good, but, you will still create condensation, so the heated mat will dry it out, as well as keep it up to temp.

I believe most people put/keep at least another one on the mat, whilst playing.

I would not try this infrared heater on my instruments but evidentially several people have.  There are a few sellers on eBay.  I did enjoy the funny comments on this mucus membranes piano heater though.

It looks like it might do a good job of reheating a mug of coffee😱😱
