WoW-that is truly horrible, Larry! I don't know that I could have stayed even remotely calm under the same circumstances.
I would hope that the nurse actually left the room to call for an ambulance (since they have resuscitating equipment on board?) IF not, Sandy could have sued them for carelessness and neglect. Fwiw, I distinctly remember when Joan Rivers died - and all
the swirling 'gossip' about the cause - and how it affected her daughter Melissa. I also can't imagine anything more awful than what Sandy went through. Awful.
My brother's sister-in-law by marriage had an emergency tracheotomy done when her jaw snapped shut during surgery for something else entirely and they could not open her mouth to give her oxygen (her TMJ dysfunction is even worse than mine).
If I remember correctly, her throat closed as well due to everything they were attempting. She wore that darkened and fairly uneven scar clean across her throat and very visible, for most of her life although I saw a recent photo of her (she lives in Florida so I haven't seen her in person in a while, and she looked amazing, with the scar well-nigh invisible now). She's a stunningly beautiful as well as super nice woman and it impacted her life for a lot of years although we all truthfully assured her that it took nothing away from her looks.
I'm wondering just how often you have to replace the Epi-Pens? And how many do you have to keep on hand? If you're apart,
Sandy would have to have one on her own person (or at home in a handy drawer). There are so many things which can trigger
a reaction, even excessive heat or cold, so yeah...that has to be a constant concern, phew.
