Christmas Album
« on: December 15, 2022, 05:47:08 PM »
I've been working for a few weeks on learning to play some Christmas songs.  A couple of days ago, I figured I'd better stop trying to get them "any righter", and go ahead and record them.  Otherwise, they'd only be good for (maybe) Christmas of 2023 ;)

I've recorded 9 songs, and I've uploaded them to SoundCloud as an album.  I'm going to put the link here in hopes that it actually works!  In any case, I'm wishing all my SlideMeister friends a very happy holiday season.  Merry Christmas from me to you.

Thanks for your kind comments, guys. This was truly a fun project. I first had to find appropriate backing tracks, then actually learn to songs. Lots of practice. The recording process taught me a lot, too. My “studio” (my desk!) is not in a soundproof room. I’d get part way through a recording and totally screw up the song and start over. Then, the dog next door would bark. Then the train would come by. 😱😱😱

In the end, I had fun and learned a ton. I’m glad it’s being enjoyed, and I hope it adds a bit to the joy of the season.

Hi Doug,
Many thanks. I visited SoundCloud and enjoyed all your wonderful songs played on your Chrom. All items sounded "professional" to me. Have you recorded them using Audacity at home? It sounded as if all were recorded at a professional studio.
I also opened an account with SoundCloud and clicked "follow you".

Merry Chrismas to you and your family!

Thanks, Gene.  Yes, I did it on Audacity while sitting at my desk.  Dogs barking in the neighborhood, trains going by, grandfather clocks chiming every fifteen minutes ... it was a lesson in timing!

Merry Christmas to you and yours, too!

In MY experience, the barks, booms, chairs falling over and stuff only happen at the very end of a track, where you finally got everything right. ;D

Congratulations on all your good work - choosing nice backings, playing, recording and putting these all together on a Soundcloud album. Sounded really nice and a lovely memory to share with your family. Happy Christmas.

Thanks Laina. Sharing music with family and friends brings me almost as much happiness as learning to make music.
Happy Christmas to you and yours
