Great job Gene! I think I like your new axe too. :)
I even liked the Yellowstone State Park video (haven't
been there for over sixty years, but I still have the
old 8mm movies ;D)

It is no small achievement to be able to play the same tune in three different key - so well done Gene 8).

We were talking about a harmonica player who is/was technically great
Stan Harper told me that he'd rather listen to someone play Danny Boy with feeling.
I agreed. That was lovely Gene.

I loved this, Gene.  It's amazing to see the progress you've made in a short time, and your passion shines through in your playing.  This is a beautiful piece of music, and you played it so well.  Thanks!

Hi Age, Streetlegal, Danny and Doug,
Many thanks for your encouraging words. Do you remember that I posted one thread early this year saying that I faced "a plateau" in my harmonica journey. I have been in a long slump while I was working on this project. I almost gave it up. But a number of SlideMeisters encouraged me at this Forum asking me to keep on. I particularly liked what Roman, one of kind-hearted SlideMeisters, said: "Gene, Never dare to give up. Practice, practce and practice."

So, I decided to keep on practising. I listened to Josh Gorban's Youtube video thousands of times and tried to "ear play" this song over a long, long time (9 months period since April this year) before I could play as above in December.  I truly admire and respect many SlideMeisters who can play Chroms so well. They must have practised for so many years with perseverance, tenacity and determination.

Happy new year!

Gene

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well, Gene. It's a truly lovely song - and you did it much justice. I know it took
a lot for you to put this on video - and I loved the fantastic reverb you got. Would love to know how you achieved that? I can
get a bit of it in my kitchen (hard tile/stone floors and granite counters with high ceilings), but nothing close to what you've
managed here. If I could do 'that', perhaps I would record myself one of these days.  ;D

Hi Scotty,
I would love to listen to your playing! What I have done is rather simple as follows:

1. Open a music production app. on a desktop PC. We often call this app. "DAW"(Digital Audio Workstation). I have been using a 15-year-old desktop software called "CoolEdit Pro2", but most DAW has what they call "Reverb", which has the function to add some effects to the song by the app. itself.
2. Record a tune using a desktop microphone connected to an Audio Interface (Mine is "UR22 Mk II" manufactured by Stenberg company).
3. Use the "Reverb" function to choose whatever effects available in the list of the software.
4. Then, I use an old version of "Power Director" to insert this recorded tune to make a video before I upload it to Youtube.

There may be other simpler ways. Other members may share their options with you.

Happy New Year, Scotty.

Gene

Cool edit Pro is not a bad. little program. I used it for 15 years as my main application for editing witness statements for my Investigator work. It did a great job, and never got too complicated.  The next incarnation was (and still is)  Adobe Audition, but for my needs, CEP always did the trick. Good on ya, Gene! :)

Thank you! That seems simple enough even for someone technically all-thumbs like me. :)

I'm going to copy this and save it to try out. MOST appreciated!
now where's that wee mic I used to have around here?
