Who is "HarmoniConnie"?
« on: January 30, 2023, 02:08:27 AM »
This is a request for an update on
Connie Hassler. What happened
to her, after she retired from editing
the Harmonica Dispatch?

Connie was, from 1991-'99, editor, publisher
and staff writer of the Harmonica Dispatch,
quarterly newsletter of the Buckeye State
Harmonica Club,
Columbus, Ohio. December
1999 was her last edition of the HD newsletter.

We traded newsletters for a few years, and
she sent many back issues to me. I edited
the Milwaukee Harmonica Club's Harp News,
quarterly journal, from 1997-2008.

HarmoniConnie had a warm, casual writing
style, focusing on GSHC members & celebrity
harmonica players.

Maybe the Ohio members of SlideMeister
could provide more information. Thanks for
your help.

Best Regards, Stay Healthy

JB

After a search of Wikipedia, it was determined that bipolar bears exist. The Bipolar Bears is a musical group.

It seems that no SlideMeister except me
knows anything about HarmoniConnie.

JB, I share in your frustration at being a esoteric person with a store of arcane knowledge!
“Just here to harp on chromatics!”

Hello, A.J.

The movie from the 1960s was Harmonic Country,
with Sheb Wooley and Jim Schibinees. ;)

You remember the theme song from the movie? :o

Jim Schibinees, Jim Schibinees, Jim Schib-inees,
Bad Luck will run out from a bucket of bees...
::)

Just made that up. No such movie.

Mondo Connie, did that star Peter Ustinov,
David Niven, Merlina Mercouri & Walid
Jumblatt?
;D

That's me in a nutshell--I wrote a book about it.

Best Regards, Stay Schibineed

John,
Setting here just browsing through old posts. I enjoy your sense of humor. A lot of the time it goes over my head but for some reason I still find it to be funny 😂. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for brightening my day.
Regards, Lou

I don't have a clue John but ask me again next July when I'll have several long time Buckeye members here.

Hello, Danny G.

Thanks for your reply. Maybe
we'll solve the mystery in 2024.

I guess I'll need to contact
The Commissioner.

In 1985, I took a Conrail (Canada)
train across Canada, from Vancouver
to Montreal.

To get to Vancouver, I flew, from
Milwaukee.

In Vancouver, I had time to spare
before the train trip, so I visited a
public park.  It was the 1st time that
I had seen black squirrels.

Anyhoo, a person came up to me,
and asked for the time. I told him
that I had just flown into Vancouver,
from a different time zone, and I
didn't know the local time zone.

He looked puzzled, and said,

"I'll notify The Commissioner".

Best Regards, Stay Healthy

JB (always in a different time zone)
