Fun meeting today (at least it looked that way to me) Our resident Zoom, brainiac, Brorat, was away this week, and I was having some weird, conflicting USB driver problems, and couldn't hear the others for most of the meeting, and Danny G stopped in long enough to say his computer was broke, so he couldn't hear us either, and somehow, in the process of leaving, he handed the reigns (admin) over to our newest SlideMeister member (Sungkchang) who, when he left at the end of the meeting, turned off the Zoom connection for the three of us where still yacking! Never a dull moment, eh? ;D  Ha ha!  But TBF, it was still a hoot. So far, I can honestly say that every one of our little "Zoomers" have been a lotta fun. Hope to catch some of you guys at out next one. :)

Sounds like an interesting Zoom!  Sorry I missed it.
Played a 45 minute gig in my home town in Virginia at the great senior community there. There were about 40 in the audience, and I think they thoroughly enjoyed it. I know I did!
See you next week.

I could not get sound out of either of my computors yesterday. All that changed when I shut down and rebooted, everything started working again but it was too late and the zoom was over by that time.

Yeah you are I were fraught with problimos yesterday, eh?
I'm getting a real education outta this Zoom thing. Spoze it wouldn't be so bad if I weren't so picky, and messing around with too much equipment. :-[
When Sung left, it closed the meeting down. Still not sure how that came about. :P

But I was there to stay at 3:50  8)

Good meeting (as always) Every week, we all learn something we didn't know the week before. I just think it's so cool, like sitting around big table, yacking and and playing stuff (that sometimes) we don't even know, yet it doesn't even slow us down. (secret: That's the quickest way to improve, while simultaneously getting rid of stage fright)  None of us come there to "perform."  Like I say to folks who are nervous about playing in front of people: Trust me; none of us are all that good. We all make lotsa mistakes but there's no pressure, so we have a great time doing so.

For those of you who have reservations about showing up, just show up and see how much fun it is. The atmosphere is anything but tense. Check us out and you'll see.

Yeah, broken up and malfunctioning, cheap computers are the story of my life. That's prolly why I have six of them. (all old! Ha Ha!)  I have one with Windows 11, and all the rest are really O-L-D and cranky like me. Bottom line is that so far, I've always been able to get on line one way or another, 'cept when the power was out. Even then, I could prolly start my little generator if I really needed to say something.

Can't imagine how some folks use their cellphones for zoom meetings.🤔  If I had to use a cellphone to do anything on this site, that would be the end!

I hate cellphones like a snake. The only thing they're good for is making folks look stupid when they use them; especially when they walk into doors and polls, fall in water or drop them in the lake, or have some animal steal it from them.$1200 - BuhBye! Bwaaaahahahah!

Someone actually called me on mine while I was in a grocery store a few weeks ago, I was mortified! I went around a corner frozen food locker to tell the guy to call my home phone in two hours. I couldn't handle the thought of looking as stupid and insecure as all the other folks walking around, yacking, gesturing with their hands as though they were face to face with someone, and even dropping F-bombs in a stinkin' grocery store yet!! What's up with that??

Texters? Don't get me started. Too late! I'm almost tempted to follow those folks around long enough to see them walk into something, so I could laugh at them.  I just read where the the average (adult) texter (kids are much worse) sands and receives 75 texts per day and about a quarter of all car crashes involve some moron texting.

I'm sure it's even worse now, but back in 2020, here in the states, there were over 11,000 serious injuries from texting and 3000 of those ended up up dead (walking out in traffic, falling down stairs and stuff.

I think I sent maybe a dozen texts in my life, and those were to my deaf daughter. The only text I ever use with any regularity, are the ones I get from banks and stuff like security code or somethin. Proud to say, I've yet to scan a QCR code or whatever. If my car didn't allow me to answer a call by hitting the green button the steering wheel and just yelling at the ceiling, I'd throw my stinkin' obama flip phone in the fire.

Yeah, No problem, Bro. We only get the "echoes" when like three or more participants are unmuted.

I think it's unrealistic to even dream of our whole Zoom meetings (with more than two professional Zoomers) where everything went perfectly. Nope! We make lotsa mistakes. That's probably one of the things that make everyone so relaxed. We all screw up. ;D

Thursday meetings are beginning to anger me!

I'll be in North Myrtle for an HOA meeting this week.  The meeting is actually on Friday, but I have to drive there on Thursday afternoon.  I'll try to hook up to Zoom by phone on my drive.  That way I can at least hear what's going on and join in only by voice!  "Hear" you all on Thursday.

I have a meeting in Virginia on the following Wed, 11/8, but will be driving home early on Thursday.  That SHOULD put me home in time to Zoom with the group on 11/9.  "See" AND "hear" you then!

Age! This entire post had me laughing out loud and applauding! I STILL haven't connected my Iphone12 (which Fred got for me last year). To be honest, I DID get a book about it from the library but haven't had a moment to read it. I 'think' I know what my 'apple id' is in order to sign in (or whatever you do with it), but haven't made or gotten a SINGLE CALL yet - and amn't in a rush to try it. The only reason it intrigues me at all is to take mini-movies of my two dogs (and cat - Percy). :) When Luka or Koda do these adorable things I haven't captured, I feel badly, so... otherwise I feel exactly as you do. Fred hardly ever remembers to take his own cellphone with him when he goes out, so if someone calls here on our HOME PHONE (I do occasionally refer to it as a 'land line' so they'll have a clue what it is) I then call him if it's really important - mostly to remind him to call that person when he's able. HE mostly calls back when he's in the grocery store - or a big box store and yells over all the other noise so it makes me laugh. One of our neighbours (whom we 'used to' invite over for big celebration dinners), would have her phone attached to her face or on the table texting and swiping away AS we ate and would literally make and take calls even through our conversations and dinner. I lost it finally, explaining that I thought this was quite rude and asked her to put it away which she found insulting! How on Earth did she manage (or survive) prior to having one? I have never once 'texted' either. Neither has fred. I doubt we ever will. Email is good enough to send messages - like this. Thanks for this - it cheered me up immensely knowing I wasn't the only dinosaur.

My dear fellow dinosaur,

Never thought being a dinosaur was gunna be so much fun, and so unique. I recently found messages and texts folks sent me a year ago. I don't feel bad about never answering them since I always tell folks not to text me in the first place.

"May we send you a text?" No!
"Just scan the PCR code" Fat chance!
"Download the Ap" Not happening!

I have zero aps, and I've deleted everything else that I can.

Heck I usually only turn it on when I think I might hafta use it, or I'm expecting a call.  I even keep it in another room. As long as I can hear it ring, that's fine. I usually don't even carry one for emergencies, unless I was driving across a desert or something, since EVERYONE else has  one surgically attached to their hand, and can't wait for a chance to use it.

Took an old "deactivated" (no SIM and Wi-Fi disabled) smart phone to church last week, after putting my bible on this "dead phone." In the middle of the service, the stupid thing started playing a commercial (video and all) loudly! That's the end on technology for me. I'm going back to my old "Flat Black Sixty-Six" for church.

I have a first generation Android at home with an audio bible on it that that I keep under my pillow. (You know, I hate to read but, turns out, I can even listen in my sleep :)) The thing is too old to work as a phone with any of the new providers, but plays audio files pretty good; the rest are all junque AFAIC.

No tatts, No texts, no Aps, no phone, Dat's me. No kiddin'

Love it! I still have the original 'flip phone' in a metallic aqua colour (of course it is) ;) Fred got for me when he first signed on for 'A' cellphone (years ago). His was a basic instrument. Mine looked nice but I had almost zero idea how to use it except to 'phone home' when at SPAH. So that's what I used it for...maybe 2-3x each time I went. Then it got put away again. It still looks gorgeous and sparkling new. Oh, it does have a pretty photo of piano keys with a rose which some young girl helped me install - and that's it. I don't think there's a single thing on it, but it's now useless according to Fred. It'd be nice if I could also use it for music only, but I'm still trying to figure out how to sign on with Apple (the ID I wrote down doesn't seem to match), so using that one for music probably won't work, especially for THIS techno dunce. lol

scotty a/k/a fellow dinosaur
PS: flip phones are now coming back into 'style' from what I hear, lolol
