Carey Bell dies

Carey Bell, 70, blues harmonica player who performed with Muddy Waters' and Willie Dixon's bands; died May 6, in Chicago, of heart failure.

Heard this very sad news at a harmonica convention on the weekend. I had the pleasure of seeing Carey Bell upstairs in the 4 Bars Inn in Cardiff about 20 years ago, he was the first name harmonica player I saw. He was absolutely outstanding, playing first with a local band before finishing off solo, unamplified and walking around the tables playing diatonic and chromatic in the styles of big and liitle Walters, before announcing 'and this is myself' and letting rip.
A great player and ambassador for the blues who will be greatly missed!
