Swan Tremolos?
« on: March 23, 2021, 12:54:04 PM »
Hi Danny,

Wondering if you are selling any Swan Tremolos? Was looking at the Swan 24 hole tremolos last night on ebay, wondering if have any of these for sale in C, or if you have the Swan 2 sided Tremolos. These look like nice harps to me, and would rather purchase from a local guy than order on ebay from China. Enjoy this beautiful weather today ;D

Try Danny first, but I don't think
that he sells Swan products:

www.newharmonica.com

Try this next. This distributor is
located in Colorado, USA:

www.swanmusicstore.com

No Problem Danny. My first and only Chromatic is a Swan, that my lovely wife bought me for Valentine's Day. I think it is beautiful instrument, but I'm also a beginning Harmonicist, and this is the only Chromatic I've played so far. Wanting to invest in a new Tremolo, as the Schylling Tremolo I picked up at Kraynak's in Sharon, for $5.00, has whet my appetite for a quality Tremolo harp. Also have an old Weltmeister Tremolo, but it needs a serious refurbishing.  What do you have up for sale right now as far as Tremolos?

Tremolo harps that are under $30 are usually disappointing. The tuning difference between the reed pairs in adjacent holes is critical for even tremolo speeds from note to note. You simply cannot get that precision consistently in that price range.
Tremolo harps come in 3 flavors.  Richter, Asian, and Solo. Richter harps have a wetter tremolo, chords in the bottom octave (resulting in missing notes in that range, like a blues harp), and just intonation for nicer chords.  Asian harps have a dry (slower) tremolo speed, complete major scale in the bottom octave, and equal temperament tuning. Solo are tuned like a chromatic harp with doubled C notes.
Asian tuning doesn't always mean it was made in Asia.  The German made Seydel Skydiver is an excellent tremolo with the Asian note layout.

A reasonably good/cheap tremolo is the Suzuki S21 - I have 3 in my collection - & a Swan C/G, (which is OK but not brilliant).

Tombo & Seydel are other names I would suggest looking at.

Been able to get some nice Tremolo tones on my Swan Chromatic. Only on blow notes, and not all blow notes, but nice on the notes I'm getting them on :)

Blow 4 and blow 5 are both C notes. If you play them together and they are not tuned exactly the same it will sound like that. Same with 8 and 9. This frustrated me so much that I started using draw 4 with the button in to play C. Now I'm more accurate but still play C that way most often.
