ZOOM
« on: March 28, 2022, 04:52:09 PM »
I've been attending Zoom meetings with the Garden State Harmonica Club every other week, The Long Island Harmonica Club every Wednesday, Mile High Harmonica Club when they have them, Hoot when they schedule one and Tulsa's Route 66 Harmonica Club.
The format of the meetings are everyone has the opportunity to play a tune in the order they signed into the meeting
Depending on how long the meeting goes on everyone gets to play another round or more.
You need to have a microphone, a camera and be able to hear (a small amp or speaker will work. A bigger one works better.
I thought it would be fun to get together on Zoom and play some music so I just purchased a pro subscription to Zoom.
Since many of us live in different time zones I'm looking for suggestion on when to setup a meeting
and   I'm wondering if any of you are interested?

We're all spending time reading and replying at the expense of not practicing or playing. Listening and playing at Zoom meetings inspires you to learn new tunes so you're not repeat playing the same old stuff over and over again. It lets you ask questions and get replies in real time. When I go fishing I never expect to catch all of the fish. I don't think everyone is going to be interested but if you are let me know.

Harmonica UK has open mike sessions monthly on Zoom and they seem well attended. This is a good idea for this group if a suitable time can be sorted. 👍
One day I’ll be able to bend a note 😀

Great idea!  I’m game to try it.
As for the timing… I’ve reached an age where I don’t sleep much anyway, so …whenever😱😱. Luckily, my computer is isolated from where Janet will be sound asleep!

I'd love to get together! I have a zoom account thanks to my school. I'm nowhere near the level of most, but I'd love to learn!

Splash and anyone else come on and join us in a few minutes
There are all levels of players and if you feel uncomfortable about playing it's okay to just listen.

They have one every Wednesday, Ill post a new link when they send it out.

I'd like to have some idea of what would be an ideal time for a few SlideMeisters to get together

Danny, are you planning to record the Zoom meeting and post it to You Tube or Vimeo or such? Copyright concerns could influence my choice of songs. If it's just a few of us having fun then I won't worry about song selection.

I won't say that I wouldn't record sessions but I have no thoughts of posting anything on Youtube.
As far as copyrights go, Youtube identifies copyrighted material but if you upload it, it can't be monetized.
I have a couple hundred videos on my YT channel. Many of them are identified as copy infringements  but none of my videos are monetized so as long as they play I'm happy. You'd be welcome to play anything that floats your boat and I wouldn't share anyone's performance without their permission. I don't know what your experience at Zoom meetings but most of the ones I attend are about 50% meet and greet bull sessions. I expect that most of us have never actually met each other so this will offer us an opportunity to get to know know each other a little better. It's free, whatta' ya got to loose ?
