COVID-19 has shut down many businesses in my area. As a matter of fact, I have not worked outside my house at my regular "part-time" job where I can work as many as 105 hours in a week driving commercial tour bus since mid-March. The result is that I am in my harmonica repair shop, fixing harmonicas, along with my beautiful daughter, who is also a world-class chromatic harmonica player and top-notch harmonica technician.
I registered for four doctoral classes for this summer since I knew that I would not be going far from home. My daughter has kept my shop going for hours where I am in the books and writing academic papers. We work together in the same space so that I am able to put finishing touches on repairs, tuning, and I personally quality control test every harmonica before it is shipped to its owner.
Speaking of Covid-19, we use an Ozone generator and chamber to disinfect all harmonicas that come in and out for repair.
In March, there was a 14-month backlog on all harmonica repairs. As of today, we have reduced that to 6-months. I anticipate that by the end of July, we will be completely caught up and repair turn around should then return to a reasonable 2-3 weeks. Please remember as life goes, all things are subject to change.
To all of my customers, thank you for your support!
