Maono mic
« on: May 13, 2024, 03:16:40 PM »
You guys who make the Zoom meetings have seen (and heard) me using that Maono mic, right. (It's the one that looks and sounds a lot like the Shure SM7B Vocal Microphone that everyone uses nowadays.  Aaaanyway, I got a note from my girl at Maono and it looks like I may soon have a new Maono gizmo to use with it, to try on the Zoom meetings.  The item hasn't been officially been released yet, but it looks like it just may be the ticket for what we all do on our Zoomies. It's called a G1 NEO Gaming Audio Mixer.

Okay
Le'Gizmo showed up today. It's just after 10PM and I finally got to plug this thing in. (as usual, never opened the instructions yet :P) set the sound (both in and out) on my Mac to Maono," opened "Photo booth," turned on Seseme Street on my little MP3 player, fiddled  around with some buttons on this little box, and as soon as I heard something on my headphones, I hit "record." ;D  I think I have the reverb cracked justa skoshe on my mic and this is it kids! You're hearing exactly what I heard a few minutes ago. So far I think I'm impressed. 8)

Lotsa cool lights flashing, I have no idea what they mean yet. I'll let know you as I find out.
Maybe (after I actually know what I'm doing) I'll make one on my Zoom channel and upload that video for yas.

I've been reading your posts on this gizmo, but I still have no real idea what it does! ;D

I looked it up on the Maono site, and came up with the following link:
https://www.maono.com/products/maonocaster-amg1-neo-audio-mixer-for-game-streaming

I read all the hype on that site, and it seems to have something to do with gaming/podcasting.  I mean, I see it will allow connection of an XLR mic (which things like Focusrite Scarlett do as well), although this one has the ability to make your voice sound like a baby and it has cool lights.

Not being too well-versed in this type of equipment, can you explain what this thingie does for you?  Is this basically and audio interface that allows use of XLR mics with computer?  I'm kinda lost, Age.

So far, I think it's pretty cool. I have no idea what it does with games; couldn't care less about games :P. But, you can plug any mic (condenser or dynamic) into it for the live portion, you can plug an MP3 player for your tracks, and/or use tracks from the output of your computer (like iReal and stuff) or bluetooth them in, and even add reverb to your live mic if you like. There's a few different monitor points or (from what I se so far) Each of the record buttons can record 20 seconds of anything you might wanna toss into your performance or whatever. So far, all I did was record that thing I posted as soon as I heard something coming through the headphones. This little guy is actually pretty involved and versatile.

OK!  Looks like this can replace something like Focusrite with easier interface and more features. Could I use it with Audacity to record?  Can it be used on zoom to play along with backing track either on my computer or external mp3 player?

I know you just received it. Sounds like a pretty simple and very inexpensive audio interface for using XLR mics.

Yes and yes! I'm sure you can use for a lot of applications (even making videos for YouTube, etc.) I'll probably try some of that stuff myself. It looks you can do lotsa stuff with it, but I see it as an easy Zoomer box that anyone can use, and it's pretty cheap too.  :)
