Here we have an old song from 1967 8) - not a complex tune - but the harmonies are wonderful - at least to my ear.

was wondering where you were - the OP himself of this thread. :) GREAT song choice. Took me back. Thank you.

Many thanks to Brorat for introducing me to this lovely, old song from 1922 8). So I wanted to include it in this thread, especially with Remembrance Day coming up. This 1922 recording is, I think, the original version.

Just listening to this song brings back so many memories of my youth.  This song, along with so many other "forgotten songs", were included in the little book we used in elementary school at our "Friday Assembly".  Many were patriotic, and we sang with gusto and without apology.  Then there were tunes like "In My Merry Oldsmobile", "My Darling Clementine", "Erie Canal", "Down in the Valley","I've Been Working On the Railroad","My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean", "Shake Those 'Simmons Down", "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain", ... and so many others.  Music and singing became a shared love for all of us.

Here we have an old song that dates back to 1929 - one of those 'hard times' songs that were written to reflect the difficulties ordinary people faced, following on from the Wall Street Crash.

First for reference - the original recording from 1929 -

The second version was recorded in the 1970s - I really like the raw guitar sound on this version -

An old Christmas carol that maybe isn't so much heard - sung here as a three party harmony 8).

And here we have an old song from 1967 8). It struck me that this would be a very good one (and a challenge) to attempt on the chromatic harmonic - there is a lot going on in the melodic line of this one.

Winter should be coming to an end - but as always it seems on the run up to the Spring Equinox, it turned a lot colder here in the past week. This old song dates from 1952 - this version is from 1978 8).

This old song dates back to 1927 8). The version here was recorded in 1971 and includes some nice harmonica action. Have a listen, if available where you are.

Here' one I remember waaaay back from when i was a kid.
As I recall, it was a 78 (of course ::)) and probably on the London label. No vocals, just piano and, BTW, much better than the version below.  :P

Plays very well on the tonic key of whatever you have handy, with the button in. Try it and see. 8)
I'd love to find a Karaoke of this cool old number.

There seem to be some versions of the tune “as performed by George Jones and Tammy Wynette” if that helps.

Here's another version that sounds great.  Not totally piano, but mostly!

Near You is one of my favorites, but in the Eddie Haywood style as played.  Also,

I was trying to think where I had heard that song - Near You - before and then I remembered that it was probably on some TV show where the host sang a duet with his female guest. That was the kind of thing they did back in the 1970s.
