Good sites
« on: May 25, 2021, 03:52:15 PM »
As I recall, we probably did something like this years ago but stuff change and sites come and go Soooooo,

Just submit websites that are not necessarily entertaining but helpful to the Chromatic community at large, like tools, music hacks, aps and stuff, and I'll find (or maybe even MAKE) a place for them where on the vast "SlideMeistairian" Campus,  ::) that can be easily acquired without looking all over by ourselves. Recent example is:

https://getsongkey.com
A site that identifies song keys

https://www.musiciansway.com

This is a site that goes along with the book of the same name (quite an interesting read, by the way). It features lots of links to useful material for musicians.

Here are some valuable websites for harmonica players.
Some of these sites are primarily for 10-hole diatonic
blues harp players.

A handful of websites have been deleted, or have expired.
The sites on this list are active today:

www.harpingmidi.com  (MIDI for harmonica players)

http://musescore.org  (create, play and print music)

www.harp-l.org (the 1st known internet harmonica forum)

www.patmissin.com  (educational, reed placement charts, patents, etc.)

www.angelfire.com/music/harmonica (education & information)

www.harpinanawhinin.com  (play-along charts in tablature)

www.flutetunes.com (compatible with slide chromatic; songs, etc.)

www.thetremolo.ponderworthy.com (for tremolo players)

www.tremoloharmonica.com (tremolo players)

www.overblow.com (mostly for diatonics, but has a list of useful keys and reed placements)

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Harmonica/Anatomy_of_a_Harmonica  (Harmonica anatomy)

www.musicstudents.com (play-along, prints music; back-up music; free sheet music)

www.dirksprojects.nl (tuner designed for single reed per note and double reed harmonicas: scroll down page to Harmonica Tuner)

www.ronimusic.com (slows down music tempos; Audio Companion for MP3; MIDI sequencer; MIDI player; MIDI converter, more.)

https://www.harmonicauk.com (present website of the Harmonica World magazine, National Harmonica League, United Kingdom)

https://getsongkey.com (song keys listed for over 6 million tunes/songs). Thanks, A.J.

Best Regards, Stay Healthy

Thanks, Keith, for the expired HarmonicaWorld website news.

As of the year 2011 or earlier, the National Harmonica League (NHL)
newer Harmonica World periodical magazine website is:

www.harmonicauk.com

Found a cool, free site that removes vocals from mp3s. Make your own background tracks!

I like what it does a lot but for now, but to join for the cooler features, it looks more complicated that what I need right now. To coin a popular phrase, I'll hafta "circle back" to this. I have too much going on right now. I does look pretty cool though. 8)

John Broecker, you may want to delete the link to theseventhstring. For years I used their chromatic tuner. However, it requires an obsolete plug in that almost no operating systems support today. When my computer would no longer run their tuner app I contacted them and was told they have no plans to update it. Now I use the Boss tuner app on my phone. It works great.

Yeah. I'm thinking that you'd need to record it with a different app maybe. Still, the idea is a pretty good one, I think.

Nah, just click on "music" and it'll download to your download folder, but the "paid' account stuff is of a lot higher quality. I'd like to get it but I don't know what it cost on a monthly basis or whatever. We'll see.

Here's a snippet of the "I can't Make you love me" just to show you the quality. Great number, actually and it really sounds great on a Chromatic. Go on, try it! 8) 8)

Got it! As soon as I figure out how to shrink the file a bit, I'll upload "Ghost Riders in the Sky!" (Bb minor--button in the whole time!)

I just want to mention that I am really happy to be part of SlideMeister - it is a good forum where you can both learn something new about the wonderful Chromatik --- and also contribute something to others based on your own experiences-- -hopefully! ;D
