Okay,
The dust is all settled It's over and most of us are home, even Danny G and Linette and back home. Whew! Lotta work and preparation there guys and a heart felt thanks from all of us who attended. We had a really great time.
Danny's parties are probably the most relaxed harmonica events you will ever attend; probably because the structure is such that . . . .well there isn't any structure! Everyone sits, stands, mingles eats, laughs, jokes, learns, shares, did I say eats? Well you get the idea. Someone was always up there on the stage playing, talking or getting ready to be playing or talking.
Everyone had a shot at the stage, even that old SlideMeister guy, Zoldie or whatever. Al and Judy Smith - The Harmonica Hotshots from Richfield, OH along with Harmonica Junction were there along with the crazy Monroe Brothers, (from the Columbus area I think) The big Viking from Burlington, Ontario, Canada (Ingo) was there with his lovely wife Sandra. (Whatta sweetie) Atsuko
"Earthquake" from "bootiful Pennsylvania" showed up on Saturday, again, all giggles and sunshine with a big Super Chromatic. Sue Smith from Ithaca, NY. Roger and Ilene from the Akron, Ohio area were there, and those guys just get better every time I hear them. We also had "jazz man" Billy Simon and that old smoothie, Herb Eck and a lot more from places I don't remember
We all a super time. (don't get mad if I missed you - I'm an old guy y'know and forget a lot
Finally got to hear Atsuko. That little Lady's doing very well. It's easy to hear that Franz Chmel tongue vibrato thing she's been working on and it sounds great. She doesn't just talk it kids, she does it! Also got to play a bit with Sue Smith: what a treat!
Gabe "S.O.S," his wife Sandi, my other dirty kid, Louie and Barbara and I rode down on our motorcycles on Saturday. It was a great ride and a great time to boot.
This is the second "Danny G's HarumkaFest" I've attended in as many years and I'm really glad they're just an hour or so down the road from SlideMeister Central, up here Amish Country/Snow Belt or whatever. This party was better attended than last year's and I have every reason to believe, Lord willing, next year's will be even better, so those of you who missed it . . . .you missed it! Don't let that happen again.
Sunday, as things were winding down, Danny, Ingo, Atsuko, Sue and I just had a little JamFest in the pavilion. So another Danny party in the can. Hope to see you there next year.
