Classical TV
« on: June 23, 2007, 02:48:54 PM »
Hi All,

The TV programs are so lousy lately I have resorted to
just watching the news.  But the news is mostly about
the lousy programs.

I found a channel with video that advertises pay-per-view
with pictures that also describe how wonderful cable TV is.

The audio is wall to wall classical music!

So this is what I watch (listen) to most of the time.
The only downside is there is no way to find the names
of the pieces.

Newspapers supply all the news I need.

Pete

I pretty much believe none of the printed media, or nightly TV news, and most of what I hear on the radio; but then, I only listen to about five programs (besides FM music stations  :)

For entertainment, I get movies from da liberry. I hate the camera work on all the new movies. In fact, with my ADHD, it messes with my head so much, it'll make me physically ill if I keep watching it. (I see that as a good thing)

When the movie reviews say "fast paced" it means the action scenes are shot in strobe, with light flashes, that try to cheat the viewer into thinking the action scenes are as good a the car chase in Steve McQueen's "Bullet" that was made a thousand years ago.

If the reviews say:
* "Powerful, Sensitive, Timely or Thought Provoking" it means the movie is pushing a political agenda.

* "Hilarious" means they wish it were.

* "Disturbing" means you gotta be a "sicko" to wanna see it.

Face it, if it weren't for graphic violence, language, special effects and steamy sex, many of today's movies wouldn't make payroll.  The Academy Awards are a joke. (have been for years) The "People's Choice Awards" and more in line with how good a movie really is.

Bah Humbug!!  Seriously, if I knew being a grumpy old fart was gunna be so much fun, I'd have started it years ago  ;D  Ha Ha!

However, after saying all that, I just saw a surprisingly good one (for a newer movie) last night; "Deja Vue" with Denzel Washington, Jim Caviezel and Val Kilmer. Great flick! That one was definitely worth the buck I paid at the library!  If you like action, a bit of SciFi and romance (clean) and nain-biting suspense, See it!!

Gotta go fix a motorcycle!

Hey Joey!
I was just thinking about you. Here's "Maddie"
It's as  85 Suzuki Madua (1200 cc v-4) I rescued the old girl from a neighbor's junk yard.

Cute but insanely fast!

Just took the shot about twenty minutes ago

Huumm  it sounds a nice discovery, but .....why don't you just listen to the classical music radio station all day long?  They give you not only the names of the tunes but sometimes also explain about music, composers, and other things......

I'm in Wyoming,  we don't have such a station.   :'(

Oh, sorry to hear. If you have a fast internet connection, you could listen to live music on classical during day and jazz all evening/night from Philadelphia station www.wrti.org. You also have an option to listen 24 hours on either classical or jazz.

Heard Wyoming is the least traffic congested state and it has beautiful parks, you must be having great life living up there  ;D (except maybe winter  ;)).

Thanks for the URL, I will certainly give it a try.

No longer least congested. We are suffering a boom with all the big oil/gas
companies trying to get the stuff out of the ground as fast as they can, puting
a great strain on our infrastructure, water shortage, and roads along with
traffic jams.   Too bad, it was so nice when I first moved here.

PS: I like winter, (except for the wind)
