"Professional" Video Drop Spot
« on: October 07, 2007, 08:53:20 PM »
Whenever you find a good "pro" (in concert/performance) YouTube Chromatic video dump it here. Don't discuss them here; just dump them here, okay? and we'll build a cool VideoMeister page on the main site using them. We'll start with the pros and move on to semi-pro down the road.

Here's a few to get started: (don't make me do all these, kids! :)

Harmonicat five piece plays Raymond Scott's Powerhouse--does it get any better than this?

Just watched the "Powerhouse" video by the "Philharmonics".

http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=0YHCiC7IIg8

I was fortunate enough to know Raymond Scott.  When my son was a very young child he actually played "Powerhouse" for him on Scott's own piano!   I know Raymond would have gotten a kick out of that video!

I noticed the video rendition is in Eb which makes some of those crazy licks not quite so crazy on the harp!

Anybody know of any YouTube's featuring Asian players using exotic (to the U.S.) harps?   Tremelos, harp switching - that sort of thing?

Hi SlideMeisters,

here I found a private video made in Singapore earlier this year in Patrick Tan's appartment for www.chinaharp.com, the world's largest online harmonica community (ca. 2 million guests):

http://www.chinaharp.com/forum/view_26194.html

The sound and video quality is poor (made with a simple webcam), but the music, played together with my regular guitar player Uli Wagner,  is quite OK, I think...we play "Tangoletta" (original composition of mine) and "Satin Doll" (Duke Ellington).

Just in case anybody missed this over in the Newton Fourkey topic:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-Thib725Ig

Excuse me for tooting my own horn but:

As far as I know this is the only example anywhere of a Charlie Parker solo (not just the head) played note-for-note on a harmonica, whether chromatic or diatonic.   Personally I think that's kind of a big deal!
