THIS is the same guy I've mentioned before, but didn't find his link when I looked for it. :) He really does what looks like an amazing job in entirely restoring and SANITIZING used chromatics, and lists them for very reasonable prices. IF I wanted to buy a used chromatic to try out? This would be where I'd look for it....he does everything: replacing reeds, windsavers, cleaning, gapping, retuning. I've noticed he still has 260's (discontinued now by Hohner). I have a couple of my own but the one he has for sale now looks very, very good.

I've long been an admirer of just how great the chromatics he sells look in the photos. Of course, I have no idea if they ARE as good once the buyer gets it home, but he's been doing this for quite a few years' now and seems to get good feedback. I'm impressed.

Wait a minute, I just reread your post. This is YOU who is the EBay seller? I had no idea!

I thought you were only posting this for someone else from whom you'd bought used chromatics. Cool!

The only thing dissuading me from the Meisterklasse (don't have a 14) - well, 2 things: are the square mp holes and the extreme signs of wear/scratching on the mp. Have you tried polishing it up with something like MAAS? If the scratches are through the finish it likely won't help, but might be worth a try anyway.

Yes, Scotty, it's me, Virgil.  And thanks for the good words.

Scotty,

You need to buy it before I do.

The MK mouthpiece is lightyears ahead of the 260/270/280 mouthpiece.  I personally wouldn't be afraid of the finish wear.

I'm actually less concerned about the wear (have a feeling I can bring it back) than I am the square holes. I'm SO very partial to the rounded mp holes on my Supers and the CX-12, whenever I do go back to playing any of the other chromatics in my collection they don't feel 'right' anymore. It's the reason I hardly play my little Bb Seydel Deluxe--despite it's gorgeous tone and silky slide.

I also haven't been on EBay in over a year--and have just committed to the EastTop brass combed 16. Today I'm getting a brand-new bicycle with all of the paraphernalia (Anniversary present). I can't ask my poor beleaguered husband for 'just one more chromatic' at this stage, methinks. He knows how many I have and is still waiting for me to purge some of them.

PS:It IS a great buy for someone--I think I'll have to wait a bit, especially since a 14 would be entirely new for me. I don't quite 'get' a 14. Why not go to the 16 since it's only 2 more holes? hahaha
PPS: I'm mainly interested because of AJ's constantly referring to it as his preferred instrument. I love how he plays so there's that.
