Half Valving the CX-12
« on: September 25, 2018, 09:43:02 AM »
I know this topic has been discussed in the past, but I wanted to bring it up again because I have gotten very good at modifying CX-12's for half valving. It does take some work, but not a lot. I sand the front of the comb flat on a professional wood workers flat sanding stone, lightly emboss the slots with a 7/16's 1/8" drive deep well socket. tear half the valves off and set the reeds. I haven't bought a Brendon Powers thicker slide yet, but I am going to. Other than that. I'm using all stock parts and the low notes are just as easy to bend as on a Diatonic. I'm going to do a U-tube video on it by the end of the week.

Nice.
Have you been able to get similar results with other models?

NO! I have found the CX-12 to be the easiest Chromatic to half valve. It really sounds good also!
