Presented with great pride, Mendelssohn’s Wedding March on Harmonetta.
A total of 71 little bits sewn together, and you can still find odd artifacts.
But it’s the best I can do, so go easy on me.

Not surprised at all. The Harmonetta confuses me just lookin at it. I almost got one back in the sixties. If I had, who knows? I might have been a player by now. ::)

That was C, if you care to play (it IS a round, after all.
Time to try it in all 12 keys.
I will not post that, unless somebody really wants to hear it.

This is a mashup I created years ago that comes with an explanation.
One of my favorite bands is the Mamas and Papas, which as most of you probably know, combined the talents of John and Michelle Phillips with Cass Elliott and Denny Doherty.
They burned out fast, for reasons I will not go into. Nor will I go into John's troubles, although they were many.
No, I will concentrate instead on the Richard Rodgers tune Here in My Arms, which John recorded with the Wrecking Crew, and which the Ms&Ps performed on TV (although it looks like lip sync to me) . . .

That track didn't make it to an album however, not until the boxed set. Instead, John used the instrumental track to create a new tune called No Salt on Her Tail.

Evidently that's The Doors' Ray Manzarek playing keyboards.

All this is to explain the mashup, I put 'em together. See attached file.
Hope you have half as much fun listening as I did creating it.

I was a big Mamas and Papas fan as well, Gary. Still have in pristine condition my album of them in the bathtub: "If you can believe your eyes and ears". Didn't have a lot of money to spend on albums so had to be judicious with those I bought (and still have every one of). Loved their harmonies and songs which I would belt out along with 'em, lol. My tastes always ran to melody.

There was a final M&P record, “People Like Us”, way different sound than the “Wrecking Crew” releases.
A few great songs there too— it was the contractual obligation record, a real swan song.
Cass already had a successful solo career.
Here is a selection from that final vinyl.

Sounds like a tune about Janis Joplin.

John was a flawed individual but he sure knew how to write a song.

There is a song called, "Me and My Uncle".  Grateful Dead used to play it a lot.
John wrote it, but he didn't remember about it right away.
https://genius.com/annotations/3666047/standalone_embed
Quote
According to a 1995 interview with John Phillips, the song’s writer, he wrote it without even remembering that he did:

There was a party after a concert in Phoenix, Arizona, and everyone was in Scottsdale, and McGuinn was there and Judy Collins. A lot of people had done this thing. There was a little tape recorder there. I was drinking tequila and I woke up in the morning and there was no one there except the worm and myself were still there. Everyone else had gone. I had a terrible hangover and so I left, finally got on my airplane and got out of there. About six months later I heard the song on a Judy Collins album. I said, “Nice song.” And then it said J. Phillips underneath it and I got a check for it. So I called up Judy and I said, “It’s not my shtick. I never wrote that song.” [Laughs] And she said, “Yeah. I have the tape of it, John, of you writing it that night at that party.

And this:
Quote
"John often used to tell the story behind 'Me And My Uncle.' Years ago he began receiving publishing royalties from a song on a Judy Collins record with which he was unfamiliar. It was titled 'Me And My Uncle.' He called Judy to let her know of the mistake because he hadn't written any such song. She laughed and told him that about a year before, in Arizona after one of her concerts, they had a 'Tequila' night back at the hotel with Stephen Stills, Neil Young and a few others. They were running a blank cassette and John proceeded to write 'Me And My Uncle' on the spot. The next day, John woke up to the tequila sunrise with no recollection of the songwriting incident. Judy kept the cassette from that evening and then, without informing John, recorded the song for her own record. Over the years the song was recorded by several people, and eventually became a standard of the Grateful Dead. John used to joke that, little by little, with each royalty check, the memory of writing the song would come back to him."

The three harps:
Tequila—Power Chromatic in A (D6 blow, E6 draw).
Buffett Medley—that’s a 365 tuned to circular on the bottom, Richter on top. Originally an SBS D.
Volcano—low F.

Hardly a noodle, but this is probably as good a place as any for it.

Here's the story--having had no gigs for nigh on three years, I decided to apply to play at next year's Norman Music Festival. They feature lots of Oklahoma musicians, and I are one.

No "covers", though, so I had to go through my private collection of original song demos that I keep away from the public.
So that's what this is, and it has lots of chromatic harmonica, performed fairly credibly thanks to the miracle of digital editing.

So, did I get the job?
