Thanks for your encouragement.
My Harmonetta is crippled, I keep hitting technical issues. I am getting a loaner (soon?) while my sponsor tries to put my unit right (did I mention how fiddly these things are?), at that point I promise to play a song all the way through.
La Vie en Rose has some really cool possibilities that I haven’t figured out yet, Midnight Cowboy will be easier to play all the way through.

Ok Gary, we'll wait for those. ;) BUT my initial point was for your playing of Bluesette. That wasn't on the Harmonetta, and
I'd sure love to hear you play it all the way through - as a full piece of music. :)

Merci beaucoup. mais, 'Gary in San Diego'? So you didn't just record this just now for us (since you're now in Oklahoma?)
;)

This was great - and interesting  especially with the addition of the chord. But I thought I heard a much 'lighter' tone and
surer touch in the snippet of Bluesette you posted before. Was it newer than this clip on the double-harmonica or am I
imagining this?  ;D

Right, the video is from a couple of years ago.
The noodle is recent.
You can’t do a long recording on the noodle.

Ooookay, so please, do another video (audio?) of Bluesette. FULL on, with backing - or however you wish to do it
(looping with guitar?) just for me - and Age, ok? WHEN you can find the time, that is. I LOVE Bluesette and really
liked how you played that far-too-small piece of it....want to hear it all!
:)

Reeeeaaallly nice Gary, and very much appreciated - especially adding the guitar 'stuff' as accompaniment(!) :)
(I could feel your nerves, playing live on this one. That surprised me a wee bit --thought I was the only one who
reacted that way. You needn't, trust me.

C'mon guys, how come I was the only one to give him a thumbs up on the youtube video? When you watch and like
it, you should click on that to show your appreciation.

PS: sorry it took me so long to come back...was dealing with my 'escape artist' Luka who got out 3 times in as many days. THIS time as Fred went into panic mode and I hurried to put on my shoes to get out the front door, I saw a white van pull up and a man's voice call out that Luka'd jumped into his van! I had completely forgotten that our dog groomer (who'd only done Luka a couple of times) was scheduled for both dogs and as he turned onto our street, saw Luka, opened the door and Luka came running and leaped into the van, LOL. This dog is a trip. For the last 3 escapes, Fred takes our other minivan, opens the side door and drives slowly up our block, so as this weird dog comes running (and avoids us on foot as he scoffs up all the outdoor cat food), he LOVES the vehicle and jumps in without any hesitation. I guess he now loves Pete as much as us. :) Today we finally figured out how he was getting out. One of the gates was separating from its bottom bar (although we'd checked everything all around our property). We're now going to have the guy who built our patios and pathways make another stone border (fixed in cement) all along the side fences. Sigh. More money spent we hadn't planned on. Now I need another wee bit of Bluesette to relax me. Thanks, Gar!

Live looping is a high wire act—and I tend to play chrom beyond my abilities.
But I put the video up on FaceBook, and Will Galison gave a thumbs up, so I have nothing to grouse about.
Except, you know, clams :P

You Took Advantage of Me

This is a favorite Richard Rodgers melody. I was recently researching the tune, and found that one of the most famous versions is by the Paul Whiteman orchestra, featuring Bix Beiderbecke, Frankie Trumbauer, and vocal by Bing Crosby.
They play it really fast, so I figured I would try that. It didn’t work! So here it is at my regular tempo.

That number was a lot harder to play than I thought it was gunna be. I figured I'd run through it in E flat; surprise! Turns out , that wasn't the case. :-[.
Kudos! :)

Yup. I like Gary's playing on harmonetta very much...quite unlike some I've heard before (even the experts),
since his is far more melodious and very smooth - which is definitely very appealing to my ears.

I've always liked the 16th century version
of Coventry Carol, believed to be composed
by Thomas Nycles (Nichols),music; and
Thomas Mawdyke, verses
, circa 1569.

It was part of a mystery play, The Coventry
Nativity Play
, premiered by the Guild of
Shearmen & Tailors in England. The song
featured a beautiful 3-part harmony among
the three female lead vocalists.

Set in the D harmonic minor key, it ends
on a D major chord, named a "Piccardy 3rd".

Gnarly's Hohner Harmonetta arrangement
of the tune is in the style of the 16th century,
with more modern chords.

Best Regards, Stay Healthy

JB
