Hi Age!

Thanks for the song! :D

This is a favorite a complete song in music and text!
It fits so many situations that it lasts a lifetime!

Unfortunately I only have it in C, how do I transpose the tabs? ::)

All the best

Mac I played along with it on my A Cx12 - and it sounded great, and far more mellow than on the C (fwiw).

Hi Scotty!

Thanks a lot for the advice, I´ll try and see how it sounds.
It's perhaps time to start reading the actual notes on the sheet again.  ;)
It's so easy to get lazy once one finds the tabs.

Many thanks!

You're welcome. I should have added - it's mostly 'button held in' for this one (on the A). :) Give it a whirl, see how it works.
I think you'll like it. Of course you could still play it on your C if you prefer, but to my ears it lays out and sounds SO much
more mellow (and 'in the mood') on that deep wonderful tone of the A cx-12.

Hi Scotty!

I have a CX12 in C (Gold) and it is very nice but I'm not sure how to do when the tabs show button in?
Anyhow I think I have to play by ear as I did when I was a young lad,  mmm... how the years go by. ;)

Is there an easy way to transpose a C-tab into an A-tab or any other tab for that matter.
You are a very knowledgeable member in the Forum and have given me very good and useful advice many times before.

I can find most of the tunes while I'm paying in a different key, but still it would be nice to be able to write it all down.

All the best and if you know a way please don't hesitate to tell me!

my apologies, Mac. I thought you were one of those who had an A chrom. Mea culpa. I don't play by tabs 0 so maybe
someone else here can post the tabs for a C chrom for you? It's such a lovely song, and as you probably know - i only
play by ear.

C'mon people - help Mac out - can someone give him the tabs? :)

I'm an ear player, but we do have downloadable tabs right here on this site!  I went to the downloads and found the following tabs for "At Last" in C maj.  I've not tried it fully, but it's a place to start!  I'll paste the tabs here:

A request by Ray B in the key of 'C'.

 'C'
 At .. last ..... my  love .....  has  come   a---long. ....

Hi!

Many many thanks Scotty and Brorat! ;D
I'm very grateful for this now I've got it and will start again fresh!

How do you do if you have a C harp and want to play in F on your C-harp.
Is it possible to make it sound good, Age always says you can play anything on a Chromatic.
I just wonder if there is a way to go about?
I'm sorry for all these questions but I'm having such a great time with the harp that it stays in my mind.

All the best and many thanks!  :D

I usually find what "sounds like" the root of the piece, then build a chord out of it:
F= 2draw, 3blow, 3draw, 3draw-button, 4blow, 5draw, 6blow, 6draw  That's an F chord. :)

(It's actually easier than you think) Once you get over the "I can't do that" thing, you realize that you "CAN," and it's pretty cool when it happens. Just don't let it take you sixty years to realize it like I did. :P

Mac- the 'thank you's' are appreciated, trust me, but there really is no need, since that IS what SlideMeister is for, really.
We're all about helping each other. If one person here doesn't know - someone else will. I actually know very little, since
I'm still strictly an amateur ear player - and then, play primarily on an A chromatic once I found 'that' tone - which I fell
in love with. Oh, I still play on my Super C's (16's) when I'm in the mood (and usually whilst on my keyboard), but for just
playing every day - and at the computer, listening to music - it's the A. I've become so used to it I rarely pick up a C
for casual playing anymore. Now that I have my 16 in A - I find myself hoarding it - not wanting to keep it at the computer
or to just play it casually, although it was bought for that purpose! Have to break myself out of this mindset since the 12-
hole restricts me - and I'm not really all that comfortable transposing, which doesn't ring true to my ear. Never did. A 'C'
chromatic just doesn't 'feel' all that good to me (especially in a 12-hole), so I rarely play them. For me, it's a matter of
becoming immersed in the tune or song, closing my eyes and really listening - even if I have to back up the song a few
times to go back and find just where I can dig in to it. Once you find a place you can fit yourself in, the world opens up
for you. :)
take care,
scotty

Mac: it isn't 'At Last', but another of Etta James' huge hits, sung by a new young singer on the Voice last night. Now, they're limited to a certain amount of time--so the song has to be cut down quite a bit. Just wanted you to hear her voice. She's Nepalese although I believe she might have been born here. The kicker is - she's only 17! (I absolutely love new young singers who have 'old souls' and know how to give us the music we love). ;)

https://www.zeibiz.com/2022/11/parijita-bastola-sings-id-rather-go-blind-on-the-voice-knockouts-2022/

PS: it was a 3-way 'knock-out' and her coach chose HER as the winner - so she'll move on in the competition - deservedly so
in my eyes, although there was another female singer I also loved.

I had a video around here of my grand-daughter, Laura singing "At Last," on a TV show or somethin', but can't seem to find it. :(

Hi Mac (again!) - it's not tabs - hoping someone else will come up with them for this song as well as for At Last for you, but here's yet another (and probably my favourite) version of I'd Rather Go Blind - outside of Etta James. It's done by the PFC (Playing For Change Band) as they toured 10 years ago. Actually, this particular performance wasn't even an actual performance but 'only' a rehearsal! Yet - so good it's up to nearly 3 million views. I watch it regularly. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do (it also shows just how someone can riff on a song to make it their own).
