Song of the day - 8/25/22 "Draw Me Close"

I kinda don't care that much for slower numbers but lately, who knows?, maybe I'm morphing or something. ;)

Here's the Karaoke  (it's in G)

Here's another Karaoke version in B flat

I seem to have an affinity to slow songs. Ballads especially, but standards, jazz, whatever.
Yesterday I went to the funeral of a neighbor. Cancer. 56 years old, and a really good person. Her husband spoke at the funeral and mentioned her favorite song was Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I came home and recorded it and sent the MP3 to the husband. He wrote me at 1:45AM to thank me.
It was also the favorite of a young cousin who died last fall, and I sent it to him, too.
I think the song really touches those who are facing their last days on earth.
What a pleasure to be able to brighten someone’s life on a dark day.

Lovely voice and the first version definitely made the song for me, Age. The other versions left something to be desired (imho).
When I went back to listen to the first version, I'd already fixed the song in my head and could play it....SO much nicer to
hear it with her voice. Nice. The piano wasn't too bad, but the other sounded 'tinny' and would not have sold me on the tune.

You could possibly speed it up a tiny bit if it's truly too slow, but I'm partial to ballads so enjoyed this pace.

A different 'Somewhere', but much as I like 'Somewhere over the Rainbow', this is the one I'd love to have as an alternate
funeral choice (have mentioned my first choice before). ;)

Whether you like the artist or not, this - to me, is truly where she shines. Her voice is ethereal here and the song is perfection.
Give it a chance. Turn up your speakers.

Forgot to add this: little Jackie Evancho, then a contestant on what I believe was America's Got Talent, used the above
video to do a duet with. It ended up quite beautiful. I think she won that year?

Fun fact: Jackie is a first or second cousin to SmoJoe's wife Cass. He could give you more info. Jackie's all grown up now.
