This 'can' be true - on other sites, John, but Age has preferred over the years to keep SlideMeister smaller and thinking of
his personal beloved S/M as 'quality over quantity'. He's written about this. I have to agree - especially here, since it winnows
out anyone here not for the right reasons: to play, learn about and enjoy the love of chromatic harmonica, and to bond with
others who feel the same. We've seen some examples over the years of people bound and determined to force their way into
the spotlight here with their own 'version' of what they insist SlideMeister 'should' be. Age had to nip them in the bud. After
all, this is his blog and he can shut it all down on a moment's notice. I doubt any of us truly comprehend the full amount of
hard work he's had to put in over the years to keep SlideMeister Ad free, virus free and infiltrator-free. I respect his work
ethic enormously so don't mind that we've 'shrunk' a wee bit. Yes, I'm glad people are still signing up--would love it if some might become contributing members and join the rest of us, but it's ok if not. We're still here even as Age needs time off to enjoy his grandkids and some respite from all of this work.

privilege to censor whatever is not
acceptable to him.

But, censorship is the opposite
of a forum.

Actually, I don't really censor anything, John. In order to join us, folks must first agree to the ground rules, (which is the rock I get to stand on) so my "censoring" is nothing more than my reminding members of the promise they made. So to the less than 10% that ever read the ground rules before clicking the box indicating that they did, it only looks like censorship when I remind them, but in reality, there's no censorship here.

John: I wasn't disagreeing about having new members with fresh ideas. Frankly, I too LOVE meeting new people as
should be evidenced by my welcoming them (when I'm here to do so). I certainly have missed some people when
on some unavoidable hiatuses, sadly. I think Age has explained it well (better than me). You might have missed
quite a few contretemps over the years. Better not to bring them up specifically, but even behind the scenes there
have been so many characters he's had to deal with, who simply continue to argue against the Rules and Regulations
which are clearly posted for ALL of us (no exceptions). That's what I was referring to. SlideMeister could have
thousands of names by now, but many of those weren't folks interested in what SlideMeister is about, so having it
around the 400 or so is perfectly fine with Age. He's written about this - and each new member who adds their own
stories to ours is of course greatly appreciated. No disagreement by me about that at all.

Ok kids, I know it can get a bit scary when . . . You know. So . ..

Welcome again. One guy’s view. We come here to write about playing: why we play, how we play, what we play, what we play on, how we mess with our instruments and why, the music we play, and how to just get a little better, or help someone else get better.

It’s a nice place no be nice. My favorite aspect of the forum is that very nearly to a soul, everyone wants each and all of us to be the best we can be regardless of what we are musically trying to achieve, even, or especially when we don’t really get what that is for someone else.

If you’ve been carefully lurking, there is a college here. The forum is not young, and all or very nearly all of years of teaching, learning, chatting, playing are here. There are teachers and mentors and students and newbies and friends, friends who are not all that cliquish.
