Easier hole 2 playing on plastic comb than wooden comb?
« on: April 07, 2015, 07:43:21 PM »
I don't know it's just me or what. I had several hohner 270 and find the hole 2 difficult to play.
After switching it to Discovery 48, which has a plastic comb, the hole 2 can be played easier.
Then, I switch to Chrometta 12, the hole 2 has both powerful blowing and drawing sound.

According to what I encounter now, it seems plastic comb allows you to have a easier lower octave playing.
I don't have many wooden harmonica to test on, so maybe you guys know.

p.s. I also tried a hohner masterclass before and after changing to a plastic comb. The lower octave becomes easier to play after changing to plastic comb too.

Nah, I hate wooden combs too, but I don't think you can make that charge stick. It's either your technique or the the harmonica (and considering what you said about your other harmonicas; I strongly suspect the latter :))

I´ve an old Hering 64 wooden comb; I like its sweet sound and no find difference to play with my others plastic comb harmonicas.

Maybe my reed plate doesn't stick tightly with the wooden comb.
Never mind, just want to confirm what I suspect was right.
It seems it's just my harmonica.
