seydel half moon mouthpiece
« on: July 25, 2019, 06:06:57 AM »
Morning, does anyone know if the mouthpiece that Seydel have for the Saxony in the spares section would fit a Chromatic Deluxe? I occurs to me that a rounded mouthpiece has to be more comfortable.
Cheers,
Fraser

Not necessarily so, I actually prefer my Seydel Deluxe trapezoidal mouthpiece to my Seydel Deluxe Steel half moon. :)
I find it quite 'tight' in comparison, (by that I mean that I have to use a tighter embouchure), unlike when I use my CX12 or SCX, which both have a big rounded mouthpiece.

Thank you chaps. Thinking about it, all my diatonics have, not surprisingly, all got square holes. Seems ro me I may as well stick with what I have till I actually can play my chromatic decently! ::)

You could contact Seydel harmonica repairman Greg Jones at 1623customharmonicas.com and ask if the Saxony rounded mouthpiece would fit. When I had a Saxony, I replaced the trapezoid mouthpiece with the rounded one. I preferred the rounded mouthpiece. I’m not saying it’s better, just that I preferred it. But if I were you, I’d play on the trapezoid for a while. It might work just fine for you once you get used to it. If you don’t like it, you can replace it later. Besides, the Saxony mouthpiece costs around $70, if I remember correctly. So it’s a little pricey.
