I know this subject is not new. I recently bought a new model because that is the Model that works with my Hands Free Chromatic Harmonica System. When I bought my first Model about 1953 I think it was called 2601/2 it was a pain up the [butt] for maintenance so I replace the Nails with St Steel screws many times over the years. Why do Hohner have their head in the sand while even Chinese Cheaper Chromatics are put together in a more Engineered way? When I was a young Boy in London in the 1950s if a Reed died out on me I would jump on a Tube Train & travel to Farringdon Rd where Hohner UK used to have German Tech guys, they cleaned & replaced the damaged Reed & wrapped the Harmonica in tissue paper just like new, guess what NO CHARGE for a future 15 year old with a bit of talent when I played them a tune . Most of the ones I met were not very good Harmonica players but unbelievably skilled in pulling apart the Nailed plates with ease & fixing for the young scruffy kid waiting outside in that depressing part of London. The same Tech’s used to fix the Accordion’s also , I doubt if Nails were used in them, all the best from NZ
