You wrote that Hohner mouthpiece screws can be bent by not having the screws completely tightened and using the slide. That is sad news, because on the screws of some Hohner cannot be completely tightened without stopping the slide from moving.

I prefer Hohner chromatic harmonicas over two other brands that I have played, but there has been occasional lack of attention during assembly and inspections before the harmonicas leaves the factory. My newly acquired pre-2018 Super 64X had gapping problems in the lowest octave. One of the poorly gapped reeds was a C, for which the reed was so low, the reed tip was BARELY above the reed plate. Half the time that C would not play at all. When it did play, it gave a soft sound and you could not get a strong assembly attack on the note. Poor assembly, Poor adjustment, No inspection.
