Help!
« on: July 15, 2024, 10:57:08 PM »
I have an Android smart phone (yeah right) that I'm fixin' to throw in the lake cuz it drives me nuts!🤯
I shut everything I could find and it keeps doing this every few minutes as long as it's on.
Anyone know?

Android is very popular here and can be great if you know which button to press!. We're a Samsung household,  phones, tablets, TVs. What version s/w is your pesky one? It may be a settings issue.

As Laina says: what make? What Android version? You've probably rebooted. Have you checked what's running in the background (to be found under settings>apps). Then there's always the factory reset option. If none of the above work, then tossing it into the lake might not be such a bad idea. Arcaeologists in 500 years will be thrilled.

This android is a version 9
Okay, I just Turned off all the notifications on the opening screen. Let's see what that doeth. If it works, I'll still prolly get rid on this silly thing. I just want a simple, old fart flip-phone that'll receive an occasional text (don't even hafta send them) and bluetooth to my car so I can just "talk to the ceiling" when Danny G calls. :) I want (or need) smart phone APS about as much as I want a stupid tattoo, a bolt in my nose, or an extra big toe on my forehead.

Oh yeah, and I also wanna see you on a Thursday afternoon Zoom meeting. ;D

Yeah, did the factory reset twice already and it didn't do squat. :P Still barks! >:(
Yeah, there's nothin on it of any value cept maybe a few pix of life out here in "Amish Country."
Archeologists would be bored.  No Email, no browsing history, no banking or credit card info, text threads, (all I ever use texts for is the occasional "one time passcode" to prove I'm me) just maybe a dozen or so phone numbers.

I'm not sure I would compare smartphones with tattoos or nose rings. Most people have one phone but possibly multiple face rings or tattoos. I find the things useful, but they can easily get boring. As far as tomorrow, I will try to make it. We are in Stockholm at the moment. Yesterday, I had fever due to exhaustion. Today, I did nothing but stretch out and sleep. If I come tomorrow, I may not have a party piece. By the way, we've all been pronouncing Göran's name wrong.Malmö, where he lives is as far from Stockholm as Pittsburgh is to Philadelphia. I'm just guessing the distance. It could be greater.

Yeah, I think it might be pronounced "Yuran" or something like that. I think I remember Ingo calling him that.  We'll hafta ask Göran next week when he gets back on line, eh?

Android 9: that's four generations ago (from 13)...I did buy a new phone, as the old one wasn't going to get any more version updates and Android 13 is ending support later this year....

Age: email me so I can talk about flip phones (the old kind, not the newest Samsung models) and make an offer for you.

I have an 'old' flip phone that is literally brand new. It's a metallic turquoise colour and sparkling clean. I took it to SPAH maybe 4 times only to call home 3x out of the 4. And that's it. It has ONE photo (of piano keys) as its screen saver (I was helped by a young friend Eleanor...the sister of a young male harmonica player some of you might remember). There's NOTHING ON IT!

But now, Fred tells me (when he bought my 'new' Iphone12) that my gorgeous flip phone is useless and cannot be used for anything? I'd happily donate it to Age's cause. Fred just told me he wasn't sure I could since he thinks there's a 'code' embedded in it? It's a verizon phone. (It might still have the same cell no. I have for my 'new' phone which I still haven't figured out how to use). I too am a dinosaur when it comes to smartphones although I have used the new one as a camera. :)

The one I have here is a cheap Alcatel flip phone that sorta works. It's a "trackphone"

Oh and I haven't looked up your account info. I'll try to get to it tomorrow. Heck I may even call you! LOL
Yours is one of the few numbers I actually have in my cellphone.
