Nah, we credit them 15 posts and that gives them a "member" designation, a modifiable profile, and "read-only" access to everything but the INSIDERS board and general posting privileges. If and when they decide to become supporting members, they get posting privileges and all the rest.  it's all laid out on the support page.

Just a suggestion:
When folks apply for new membership, maybe you could ask them for a bit of background information ... an intro if you will.  Then, you could paste that into the post where you announce them as a new member.  That way, we'd have more than a nickname to go by.
