How Many of You Own Desktop Computers?

I have done without a desktop for many years--much of the time I use an iPad (or my iPhone) for computer related stuff.
I am going to have to purchase a new laptop, as the one I got a few years ago is becoming obsolete (the hard drive is only 56 Gig!).
Just curious if desktops have gone the way of land lines.

I use mine daily. Actually a laptop attached to display, mouse and external keyboard.

I'm a desktop fan: Four iMacs that range from old (this one) to antique (which I use to watch Bitchute in my garage) and one i7 PC that dims the streetlights and doubles as a space heater. Then one cute little Acer notebook that I use for Danny G parties. For me, the only thing good about a notebook/laptop is that they're easier on your neck cuz you're, more or less, looking "down" rather than looking "up" at a desktop monitor. I had a 17" notebook that wasn't half bad, (because it WAS 17 inches) but it just fried one day just for giggles, and I couldn't find another like it one that I could actually afford.

Desktop: still operating but seldom used, almost exclusively for scanning
Laptop: my main computer c. 2013, updated once
iPad: usable but only use it to read ebooks when Kindle is in repair
Kindle: paperwhite to read ebooks, currently in repair/replacement

Two more desktops more suitable as boat anchors

I prefer desktops but Portability is the name of the game when using them for backing tracks

Love my desktop PC. Running Windows 11. This one is a rebuilt HP. I have a Dell laptop that I use when we are at our little condo. I use a Google product that lets me connect to my home desktop. Works great. That way I don’t have to worry about synching things I store on the hard drive.
Update and Clarification:  My "tower" model has CD Drive/Burner, SD slots, plenty of capacity for USB and I have installed a hub with extra USB ports, audio jacks for my small Bose speakers, wireless full size keyboard, etc.  I use this machine almost exclusively for personal finances, doing my taxes, Zoom, ... you name it.  I hope I can keep a similar setup until I'm on the other side of the grass.  Tablets and phones and laptops just don't cut it for me.

My only issue is that my 21 inch monitor is no longer big enough😂😂😂

Yeah, my 2017 "Office iMac" is a Retna 27" i7. Kinda has me spoiled cuz I can actually see what I'm doing on it. Old guys need bigger screens.

I have one I haven’t turned on since moving in 2020.  I’m planning on hooking it up some day just to see if I can retrieve my old photos from it.  I have three or four external hard drives for it that I usta back up to.  I also have a big apple airplane with Mac backed up pictures but last attempt to open it I couldn’t get it to open.  Forgetfulness behooves me evidently.

Have a Mac desk top. 24" screen. But it doesn't have slots to play Cds. or Dvds. Bummer. Pretty simple rig. Seperate keyboard. Wireless mouse. But only 5 yrs. old. It isn't mine. My old model did everything but wash our laundry.

Update-this laptop has an SD card slot, and it turns out SD cards are ridiculously cheap now!
So I got one that's 128G for around $20, and it will enable me to put off a purchase for now.
Thanks to all for reporting in, looks like many of you do still use a desktop for some things!

Late to this thread, Gary. I ONLY use my desktop for - everything. I DO have an Ipad (old and new-er) but haven't used either in ages. LOVE my desktop. It's there for everything I need to do and I don't want 'portability' since I'm far too busy OFF-line to want to carry a computer around, even a cellphone which I still don't use. I never want to be tied to one of those.

Yeah, I miss the old built-in CD player/burner/whatever since they discontinued them in the newer stuff. So I got one of these for my iMac and PC Notebook. Works great!

I'm good! Don't really need much more right now. I'm pretty well maxed out on my machines. (one of the smarter things I've ever done) You can fool old computers with SSD's and lotsa RAM into thinkin' they ain't all that old!

No, I don't think.  
Our minds are ready for anything, cuz they've had a lotta experience, but our bodies have a way of rudely telling us it ain't gunna happen anymore.

Alzheimer's notwithstanding. My computers have more processing power, but they can't reason. Yet.

OTOH, I have known a few people whose minds gave out before their bodies did. One lived to 105, but was incapacitated mentally for eight or ten years before that.

Yeah, Barbara's mom got dementia/senile/Alzheimer's (they're all the same AFAIC) at about 78 and lived to 101.

I spend more time on iOS (iPhone 6S and iPad 7th Gen) than my laptop (my gig computer) as they are so portable.
Which is why I don’t have a desktop—Candy doesn’t think they are worth the real estate.

I dunno. Seems to me, you really need both PC and MAC, to "cover the whole board" since even though the software is supposedly "compatible," some applications just work better on one platform than the other. I'm not smart enough to be a Linux geek yet, but I'm sure the situation is similar with that platform as well.

an iMac with High Sierra
Just gave my 2007 iMac with "Slow Leopard" to my son who hates computers but likes to listen to music.
and between all those I can pretty much cover all the bases
